Lucky Bums Snow Sport Helmet Review

Last Updated: March 7, 2018 By Craig

We took the time to review the Lucky Bums Snow Sport helmetLucky Bums has come out with their latest snow sports helmet fully equipped to meet the safety needs of all you snowboard and ski riders ready for the upcoming season. This helmet is soft and comfortable with a robust inner lining and is properly equipped with sufficient vents to keep you nice and dry. The Lucky Bums Snow Sport Helmet also comes with many great additional features considering the low price, including two protective layers, removable ear-pads in the event of a warmer day and to wash for longevity, and a padded chin-strap best designed for additional comfort. If you are thinking about investing in your safety on the mountain without breaking the bank, you are without a doubt going to be satisfied with this snowboard and ski helmet. Let us dig a little bit deeper and see how Lucky Bums has yet again impressed many with this year’s headgear.

Features of the Lucky Bums Snow Sports Helmet

  • ABS and EPS construction that fully meets the EN1077 standard
  • Internal padding and ear lining that comes with hypoallergenic and antibacterial treatment
  • Inner shell contains multisport and mesh screens to prevent snow building up
  • Adjustable fit and Multi-sizing options
  • Micro-adjustable strap for the perfect fit
  • 4 sizes to choose from on each helmet
  • Cutting edge quality and design with adjustable dial
  • Manufacturer’s lifetime warranty

Overall snowboard and ski helmet build

The Lucky Bums helmet is unique in that it can create a product of top of the line material and still sell their snowboard and ski helmets at a great price (great for you), but what’s even better is that you can still feel confident in your protection while not breaking the bank. Let’s get started with the helmets overall design and build. The first feature of note is the ABS and EPS construction which equips the snowboard and ski helmet with a standard yet very safe and secure ABS material which is a material of solid durability and strength. ABS stands for ‘Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene’ which is essentially a thin hard outer shell typically created with a polycarbonate plastic, fiberglass, and Kevlar. Long story short, this is a helmet that can sustain significant impact and is all-around great protection for your safety needs. It doesn’t by any means have a specialized system on top of it, such as MIPS (that many other helmets have in the market, albeit for twice the price, usually), but you’ll still be covered for most falls you may encounter.

Some of the comfort features are the two protective layers with superior ventilation that is going to keep you free from sweat and overheating. While riding on the snowy terrain it is unimaginable to foresee any reason as to why you will need to concern yourself with heat. However, you would be surprised how often in the past people have told me “my head is too hot in my snowboard and ski helmet!” While they still may happen at least sometimes with this helmet, the overall design is going to help decrease the chances of that quite well. A downsize some may say is that the vents aren’t adjustable, but typically vents that have on\off mechanisms are higher in price. The snowboard and ski also helmet comes with a padded chin strap and goggle loops that will prevent your goggles from falling off. The combination of it’s durability, security, and comfort of this snowboard and ski helmet should have you eager to jump out of your element and shred at your highest level without fear, and with confidence.

In addition, Lucky Bums has decided to put its money where its mouth is in terms of dependability and has included a lifetime warranty for this snowboard and ski helmet. This is how confident Lucky Bums is with the enhanced durability and quality of the ABS and EPS protection, and the material in the outer and inner shell. This is for sure going not only going to keep you safe and sound, but it is specifically designed with a level of comfort that will be tough to match. Just make sure you purchase the helmet from a certified seller and check with the brand for the warranty guidelines.

Additional standout helmet features

We have covered some of the more coveted features in a snowboard and ski helmet, but now let’s take a look at some of the notable features just so they aren’t overlooked. In addition to the durability and comfort that is always stressed when purchasing a snow helmet, let us note that the Lucky Bums Snow Sport helmet features a hard hat adjustment in the back of the helmet itself. This is going to enable the rider to adjust the helmet to align with your head size and get a custom fit on your noggin. The helmet comes in various sizes that are standard in this department. We do wish it had some type of 360 fitting system such as BOA, but with this price we understand why it doesn’t have it.

What’s also great about this Lucky Bums helmet is the thickness within inner lining of the helmet. The ear pads are particularly thick, but not too thick as to where you might start to fear overheating. It comes with netting upon netting that will keep you warm, and will also help add extra support. A lot of helmets exclusively come with ventilation on the top part of the shell, but this snow sports helmet comes with additional ventilation on the sides of its helmet. This is an underrated feature of these reasonably priced helmets, and shows that the quality of its build is equivalent to some of the more expensive snowboard and ski helmets on the market. This is a great beginners helmet, as it’s not overly priced, and might not necessarily be optimal for summer sports.

In Conclusion of the Lucky Bums Snow Sport Helmet

One of our favorite budget-friendly snow helmets in the marketYes, we agree, this is not your high-tech helmet that can be also used for skateboarding and biking, but if you are committed to the safety of your head while improving on your winter sports, this just might be the helmet for you. Some of the more high-tech helmets on the market do come with that “cool factor” but they are also going to run you nearly double the price, if not more. This is equally as durable and comfortable of a helmet as those high-tech helmets, and you can purchase them at a great price. It’s safe to say that Lucky Bum’s brand has continued to improve on their snowboard and ski helmets, so get out there and don’t be shredding through that snowy terrain without protection.

We also love how many color options that are available with this helmet, making sure it fits nearly everybody’s style — they’re all solid colors so no designs or abstract aesthetics here, which may or may not be a plus for you. For some other options out there in terms of price-point, be sure to read our top snow helmets article (we include 10 in there). Competitors we feel include the Giro Ledge (also available with MIPS for more money) or even the Smith Holt. Either way, the Lucky Bums Snow Sport Helmet is a great buy for those looking
